The Buddha taught the Four Noble Truths at Sarnath in Northern India to many beings there, including his five main disciples.
On the aniversary of this event each year, the results of all actions (both negative and positive) are multiplied many millions of times.
Lama Zopa Rinpoche says performing the Guru Shakyamuni Buddha puja, a beautiful and deeply inspirational puja, is an extremely powerful practice to do on this exceptionally auspicious day.
