12-day pilgrimage to Bodhgaya and nearby holy sites.
Join us, together with Venerable Geshe Rabten on this pilgrimage to Bodhgaya and various holy sites in easy travel times, including Vaishali Stupa, Nalanda Monastery, Vultures Peak and other special holy sites. During this time, Geshe Rabten will also teach for 3 days at Root Institute, our Centre in Bodhgaya. The subject of Genla's teachings will be: Lama Tsongkhapa's "The Three Principal Aspects of the Path".
Listed below is the itinerary. Atisha Centre has booked Root Institute from 1 to 12 December. Flights leave Australia on 1 December and depart Gaya on the 12 December and arrive back in Melbourne on 13 December. Thai Airways will be our choice of airline as they fly to Gaya India with a brief stopover in Bangkok.
Geshe Rabten is encouraging all who have expressed interest in the pilgrimage, still to consider coming to the most holy of all Buddhist sites in India.

Proposed Schedule
◉ 1 December - Day 1: Depart Melbourne for Gaya via Bangkok. Arrive Bodhgaya and settle into Root Institute. Evening trip to Mahabodhi Stupa.
◉ 2 December - Day 2: Teachings at Mahabodhi Stupa and tour of international Buddhist temples.
◉ 3 December - Day 3: Teachings at Root Institute from Geshe Rabten.
◉ 4 December - Day 4: Teachings at Root Institute from Geshe Rabten. Visit to Maitreya Universal Education School.
◉ 5 December - Day 5: Teachings at Root Institute from Geshe Rabten.
◉ 6 December - Day 6: Trip to Vultures' Peak and Nalanda Monastery.
◉ 7 December - Day 7: Free day. Optional: Trip to Asanga's cave.
◉ 8 December - Day 8: Trip to Vaishali Stupa and Vaishali Museum. Overnight in Bandhan Resort - twin share.
◉ 9 December - Day 9: Return to Vaishali Stupa. Return to Bodhgaya.
◉ 10 December - Day 10: Teachings with Geshe Rabten and offerings and Puja at Mahabodhi Stupa.
◉ 11 December - Day 11: Trip to Mahakala cave and Milkmaid Sujata Stupa. Farewell dinner.
◉ 12 December - Day 12: Depart Bodhgaya to Melbourne. Arrive Melbourne 13 December.
